Norbert 444 Overall 2013 KFPS Stallion Show Champion

The 2013 Stallion Inspection was filled with excitement this year as Friesian fans tuned in worldwide to watch the events live streaming on Omroplive.nl. Viewers were able to watch Friday’s evening show as well as the dramatic show down for champion stallion on Saturday. The broadcast was accompanied with English translations by Anneke van den IJssel.

According to the KFPS, after an exciting show-down of the older stallions, Beart 411 came away with Champion Older Stallion while his sire, Jasper 366 came in with the Reserve.

Among the younger stallions, a large group was finally pared down to Champion Norbert 444 and Reserve Champion Tsjalle 454.

Finally, in the show off between the mature and younger stallions, Norbert 444 prevailed to become the Overall Stallion Show Champion for the second year in a row, with reserve going to Tsjalle 454.

Congratulations all, and we look forward to learning more in the coming months about the 20 young stallions moving on to the Central Proving in Ermelo.

KFPS Stallion Show Champion – Norbert 444

Congratulations to the 2012 KFPS Stallion Show Overall Champion Norbert 444 (Tsjerk 328 x Hearke 254), and Reserve Champion Beart 411 (Jasper 366 x Feitse 293).

17 year old Jasper 366 (Olof 315 x Franke 251) came in Reserve 2012 Older Champion behind his son Beart 411, and Uldrik 457 (Dries 421 x Tsjerk 328) came in Reserve 2012 Youth Champion behind Norbert 444.

This year the KFPS separated the championship into an “Older” class for mature stallions who have already achieved offspring approval, and a “Youth” class for young stallions not yet approved on offspring.

Uldrik 457 Champion of 2011 Stallion Show

Uldrik 457 (Dries 421 x Tsjerk 328) has become the Champion of the 2011 Stallion Show in Leeuwarden for the second year running! Udrik’s grandsire, Jasper 322 recently became one of the youngest stallions ever to receive the prestigious Preferent predicate. Reserve Champion went to Tsjalle 454 (Mintse 384 x Brandus 345). Other stallion finalists included: Andries 415, Aan 416, Harmen 424, Haitse 425, Gjalt 426, Jerke 434, Maurus 441, Maurits 437, Pier 448, Norbert 444, Anders 451, Uldrik 457, Tsjalle 454, Wimer 461 and Wytse 462.

Five Stallions at US Central Examination

The United States Central Examination has begun, with five young stallions currently being evaluated at the DG Bar Ranch in Hanford, CA. This is the fourth year a Central Exam has been held in the United States for North American bred stallions who have passed the first round of judging. Participants include: Toby fan Bonny View (Tije 401 x Tsjerk 328P), Ruben van Erve Poortstad (Aan 416 x Fabe 348), Tettrino van het Kasteel (Jasper 366P x Feitse 293P), Zander fan Camelot (Hinne 427 x Jasper 366P), Wybren fan Northster (Feike 395 x Wicher 334). The stallions will be trained and tested on their performance abilities, gaits, character, stall and training manners (see Stallion Approval). Having just returned from our annual trip to the Netherlands, my fiancé and I were viewing the pictures that we had taken with our new digital camera. There were of course pictures of the villages we biked thru and visited, pictures of family and friends, and pictures of HORSES! This year I was fortunate enough to convince Hans, my fiancé, to go and visit his family in January. I included the fact that his mother was turning 77 on January 14, 2007 to convince him that we could arrive early enough to take in the Stallion show. He not only agreed, but arranged with his sister to get tickets for five of us, he included, to attend the show on Saturday. (Now Hans is a dairy man and for him to agree to go and spend an entire day looking at horses was surprising to say the least.)
